ukwebgroup.com woes
      #385074 - Mon Feb 18 2008 03:48 PM

Hello all. On the 28th Jan I ordered a year's hosting and domain registry with ukwebgroup.com. I had already and successfully set up my girlfriend's website. Naturally, after a pretty good standard of service I chose to host my site with the same guys. Almost a month on, no replies to emails, no domain, NOTHING. Worldpay have washed their hands of the matter and refuse to lift a finger to help. I presume they are MORE than happy to accept payments from unsuspecting 'customers'. Let this be a warning to anyone who may have spotted their website. They are GOING UNDER. You will get shafted and there is little you can do to get your money back.

Greg Daniel

I had the same problem with UkWebGroup. I renewed my hosting after previously good service. They took my money but didn't renew anything. I complained for over a month by email and phone but got no response. My impression is this company a ghost ship web host running on automatic with nobody at the helm.

I recently successfully charged back the money through my credit card company. It was surprisingly easy and painless to do. The process was to fill in a simple form and write a cover letter with a brief explanation of the problem and how I had attempted to resolve the matter myself. On receipt they immediately refunded my credit card for the full amount without any trouble.

Regards

Bonzer

Thanks for the info - I've just paid them renewal fees (domain/hosting) and nothings's happened, despite several emails. Lesson learned

First post here. I've been bitten by UK:Web myself and I've done some investigation into this. Stay away from Dataflame.co.uk - this company is affiliated with UK.Web. Lee Curtis aka Tony Ellis aka Rupert Corbett have ripped off many many people in the past. They ran Hostlogical, which folded. Then setup UK:Web, which has folded. The person behind these aliases and companies has ripped off a lot of people. Disgusting.
