Hello all. Well I've had another crack at a website. This time I have gone for the simple look and it is very small scale but will be expanded.
I would love your feedback, suggestions and more importantly if you liked the poems!

No I know, I had to close the site down as my works were not copyrighted, so anyone could use them as there own. And Google pages wont let me delete the index page so it says the error message.

Creative works need not be specifically marked as copyrighted. The mere act of creation generates the copyright in itself. Proving ownership of the copyright, in the event of a dispute, is the where the fun can start.

Registering them with some spurious body will cost you money, copyright, per se, is free, instant and a legally binding device.

Everywhere I looked it will cost me, If you know anything about a free service Please let me know! All I want is to be recognized as the creator of a piece of work so others can use it but cant take the credit for it.

That's the point, you don't need to do anything. The fact you create something automatically assigns you as the copyright holder of that created work, there is no registration required. Obviously it's up to you if you choose to hand over money to some organisation that claim to register your copyright in a given work, personally I wouldn't.
Whether doing so would help in any future battle should someone else use your work in their name is debatable; for a start could you afford to go to court over it? Also, and don't take this personally I'm talking in general terms, is it so good that it is likely to be purloined and exploited under another name?
Registered or not, bottom line is if you don't want anyone to take your work (whether for personal or commercial use) don't put it online. Besides, if a work is taken what are the chances of you coming across it - ignorance is bliss...

Cheers, the post now includes talks about copyrights, so maybe it would be of interest to some people, but I think it would be in the wrong forum.
So I guess removing it would be the right thing.
