hi, well i have finished designing a new website but one last thing i have to do is to optimise the images, because i do not want to end up using too much unnecessary bandwidth. what are good free pieces of software to reduce image sizes in KB without affecting the quality of the photos? thanks

I use Photoshop. Open your image, select "save as" and select the desired quality/filesize you wish to achieve. It depends on the size of your photos (physically) and how much details are in them. I run my own personal photography website and I use 9 out of 12 in Photoshop 7. Also if you have many images you want to reduce in filesize you could do it via a batch process.

For simplicity as well as being free, I think you'd have to go a long way to beat Irfanview click here
