Consolidating web sites - does it hurt on search engines??
      #330338 - Sat Feb 03 2007 08:23 PM

I have two web sites on two host systems. If I consolidate both under a "header" page, and keep them on one host only, will this reduce the exposure of the two "subsidiary" sites in the search engines (ok, Google!).

For information, the two sites refer to two holiday hmes to let, and I am thinking of keeping them on a single host under a general "opening" page describing the region in general, then linking to the two homes.

Any input would be helpful - thanks!

Search engines (google, yahoo, windows live etc.) all use different criteria for the order of results. The simple answer is that it shouldn't as long as the new index page contains the same meta tags and the descriptions remian unchanged. Do you track visitor stats?
