IE7 problems
      #388932 - Thu Mar 20 2008 02:28 PM

Hi, I'm having problems with IE7. It won't search from the address bar and a few things won't work in the Tools menu ie Delete Browsing History, I can't use Enable/Disable Add-Ons and I can't open Internet Options (something flashes up for a split second then disappears).

Any help would be much appreciated

Dave

Obvious first question , have you scanned for infection/s.

Does IE7 work with no add-ons ? , click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > Internet Explorer ( no add-ons ).

Hi, thanks for answering my query.

I did all my usual scans, ie Adaware, Spybot S&D, AVG Anti-Spyware etc before I posted. They all said the pc was clean, then someone suggested trying the Kaspersky online scan and it found a load of stuff, 13 viruses and 35 infected files. Don't know if they're false positives as surely the AVG etc would've found them. Here is a link to the text file of the Kaspersky log if you want a look at the results. It's too big to post on a forum at over 8MB! http://rapidshare.com/files/101014522/Kasperskyreport20March2008.txt.html

I tried to disable the addons from Tools but it wouldn't let me.

Cheers

Dave

I'll try your instructions for starting up with no add-ons when I get back after the weekend.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave 1 , it's a big log right enough but the first few lines for me were enough......Limewire.......spells trouble I'm afraid , but as i now know you're getting help elsewhere from the "experts" , and I'm only an amateur , i would ignore this , and any other thread/s you may have posted , and let them deal with the problem.
It's most unlikely they won't be able to sort you out , but feel free to post back should that happen.

Good luck.

Well if I get a solution I'll post it in case anyone else has the same problem.

Dave
