2 IE Related Problems
      #5550 - Wed Aug 13 2003 01:48 AM

Hello,

I have two questions to ask, both related to IE6. Now instead of posting a new topic for each question, I thought I could post my two queries here; hope that is allowed :)

1) Every time I begin IE, the window has being resized, and as I always have it maximized, I figured their must be a way to make it so the IE window is ALWAYS maximized, no matter what, is this possible?

2) Recently, I have blocked pop-up's, due to the fact that I hate them and wish they would die! (calm, calm) but as I start a new IE session, I get pop-ups still, but then they auto-maticcly close, and the title of them, is "~close~" weird huh? but not only does it do that; it also saves web links on my desktop to spam sites, and also add's Online Casino links to my faviorates, and I hate them, and want them to die. I have tried lots of things, but now I am coming to to pro's!!

Thank you for your time in reading this; I hope they can be solved.

Hello Chris,

1) Right click on the internet explorer icon, then left click on properties, then from the drop down menu in the run field choose maximised, click o.k.

2) Which pop-up stopper are you using? A good free one can be found Here

Hi,

Thanks for the reply to question 1. On the popup's situation, I have used the popup blocker you have provided before, and I must admit it did the job, but funnily enough, today I un-installed it, to install a new, and what I though "better" popup blocker, called "SurfSecret Popup Eliminator".

These popup's only show up the first time I click IE, and again if I was to close it, and re-open it, also, still the fact they are adding web links to my faviorates and desktop, which is rather annoying!.

I hope I made sence, hope you can help :) thanks.

Also it seems you've picked some spyware up from somewhere. See if you can download a copy of Ad Aware. It should get rid of most of the little blighters. Web Washer is pretty good for stopping them getting onto your computer in the first place, and if you haven't got a firewall, it's worth getting Zone Alarm NOW!

The good news is that all of these are freeware. The bad news is that I'm feeling too lazy today to give you clickable links. Sorry. You'll find them elsewhere on this site though. Have a look at the "Security" board.

Hope that helps.

First, download and install spywareblaster from Here
Next, as Barney suggested download and run ad-aware from Here
Another good pop-up blocker is smart popup killer which you will find Here
As for firewalls, kerio personal firewall is very good and can be found Here

All of the above are recommended by the web-user Guru Putasolutions, which is a good enough reason for anyone to use them.

Hope all of this helps, happy surfing!

Yes! These are very invasive. If you want to restore your IE6 to as it should be, Email my byron@royal.net and I will send you a little program that will restore things. Its very simple, you just click it and it will alter your Registry to original.

No it's okay now, after running Ad-Aware, it's all gone now, but thanks for your help anyway!
