When I click on a link in an email, it takes me to my browser but somehow the code http://-url " always gets added on to the front of the address.
So a link to www.web-user.co.uk goes to
http://-url "http://www.web-user-co.uk/"
So of course I get a page not found error.
I get the same thing clicking on links within a game, so it's not just Outlook.
Can anyone tell me how I can change settings that might stop this?
Thanks for your help!

There's nothing wrong.
HTTP is hypertext transfer protocol and there was a time when browsers expected you to add this by hand. To make life easier most browsers now complete this for you. Even when you type www.web-user.co.uk rather than http://www.web-user.co.uk
Of course there are other protocols too but most users browsing mean this one. You may also come across HTTPS, that's nothing to wory about either.

No. I don't think that's what she means. The way I read it, she's getting the HTTP bit duplicated, and that's what's causing the problem.
I can't help with that one either though. Sorry Fiona. We'll just have to wait for the experts.

Yes, that is what I meant; so if I click on a link that is written http://www.webuser.co.uk it opens in my browser as:
http://-url "http://www.webuser.co.uk

Fixed! All it needed was to run a "repair" of internet explorer.
D'oh!
