Don't know if this is posted in the correct forum because it's subject is a first for me.
Switched on an hour ago, connected, updated AVG, then opened Internet Explorer, (Google Home page). Clicked on Favorites - WebUser, something's wrong, I need to login, why? I never logged out, then WebUser would not let me log in.
Closed IE, opened BTYahoo browser, (personalised home page) - checked the mail and off to WebUser again. Same thing, login, can't login. Then up pops a message "YBrowser Is Corrupt - run a Check Disk. So I did, in fact it ran two.
During the first run, I noticed an entry, "Deleting index entry George@webuser.co [4] .txt in index $I30 of file 965." among other index entries which meant nothing to me. After some considerable time the check completed restarted and off we went on another one. That's another first.
Finally all was well and reconnected, opened IE then WebUser, still had to login but was allowed.
Fine, it's cured but of course I'm curious. Can anyone explain what would cause this situation please. It's beyond my experience.

George, it might be coincidence, might not. First, ever since I installed AVG 8 the webuser cookie with my login details is being deleted after a scan which means every day I have to re-create it by logging in from scratch. I'm sure there's a way of sorting it out but it's to much hassle at the moment. Could that be your problem?
Have you got Google Desktop installed? It sounds as if the index file was corrupted.

Thanks for responding greysts. No, don't have Google Desktop. Also have AVG8 and scans have not brought a problem like yours. Nothing like this has occurred before. Each night I clear temps via CCleaner before shutdown but WebUser cookie is safely tucked to one side so login won't be necessary each day.
It may be coincidence as you say, yet, what's further puzzling me is, I could navigate BTYahoo's website, Mail, News, Weather etc. Moving to WebUser then the problem occurred. Maybe I should have checked another site but unfortunately I went straight into the Disk Check.
