Hi all, I'm having a problem with my ISP (Namesco) continually charging me for exceeding my bandwidth usage (5 meg), I believe wrongly as I'm only a surfer and do not D/L any music or video files.
I have wireless on my router disabled and no viruses or spyware (confirmed by Norton and Spysweeper scans).
To check their figures I installed DU meter (Hagel Technologies) which checks and reports bandwidth usage. This confirms the ISP figures are up to ten times bigger than the real figure.
I've phoned up Customer Support and they tell me the figs are provided by BT and cannot be wrong.
Has anyone any suggestions, are the ISP scamming me or is there another explanation?

My first concern would be that your PC is being used as a 'botnet' thus causing the high usage figures. I would suggest you read this and then post your own log in the HJT forum.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

If my computer was being used as a botnet wouldn't the DU meter Iv'e installed reflect that? Whereas it is reporting low bandwidth usage in line with what I'd expect.

Well either you're right or your ISP is right. You can't both be right, can you? I see from your HJT log that nothing is showing so you need to go back to your ISP and ask them to give you a whole lot more detail about the alleged excessive use.
