I have BT broadband and a BT phone line. Connection is very slow,it is also very slow to backpage. My local computer shop have suggested that it's because of the way I'm connected to the network. I have a standard BT master socket with a D.I.Y. store extension cable plugged into the front of it. I've been told that for the best broadband I need to connect directly to BT's cable as it enters the back of the master socket. However I know that this isn't permitted, so I find it hard to believe that everyone else is doing it!! Would it help if I had my master socket replaced with an NTE5? This way I could dispense with the plug-in extension cable. Help anyone!!

I do wish these computer shops had some experts working for them. That advice is total rubbish. If you wish to use an extension lead there is no good reason why you shouldn't. What I would say however is that some of the cheaper extension leads may indeed give you problems. Always buy the more expensive thicker versions.
I'm not quite sure why an NTE5 would allow you to dispense with the extension lead. It still only has one t/p socket in the front so if your PC is any distance from the socket you would still need an extension lead.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
