Internet connections/dual booting
      #358975 - Wed Jul 25 2007 09:07 PM

Hi

I've just set up my computer to dual boot Windows XP Pro, having already had Vista installed. My internet connection works fine on my original Vista partition (hence this post), but I cannot get any kind of connection on the newly created XP partition.

I am connected through a wired router, but I have tried connecting straight to the cable modem in case the router is the problem, but the result is the same. I cannot access the internet at all.

I have no firewall on the XP partition and have disable the windows firewall, but this still doesn't make any difference.

If anyone could help, I would be most grateful.

Thanks
Kevin

Once in XP go to Start, Run, type in COMMAND then click OK. In the resultant DOS box type in IPCONFIG /ALL and tell us what you see.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

Have done as advised, but just receive a message under the DOS prompt "Windows IP Configuration". Then another DOS prompt appears underneath that.

That suggests to me that your Network Interface Card isn't working under XP. Go to Device Manager and see what it tells you about Network Adaptors.
