According to Wanadoo it will only work with their service, there are a number of setup options you don't have access to which preset it to Wanadoo.

Perhaps those two people could tell you how it works then.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really? Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

It clearly states in the Livebox documentation that it will only work with the Wanadoo service, and (as I mentioned previously) if you check through it's settings some vital ones are missing, which would allow you to use it with other services.
I agree with the previous comment, if two people have told you it can be done, then get them to tell you how! - if they can't tell you how, then they are obviously either mistaken or simple liars!.
Incidently, I tried to use a spare Demon Internet supplied Speedtouch modem on Wanadoo, this had the same problem - I couldn't configure it to work on Wanadoo, presumably it's preset to work only with Demon.

If you connect to the Livebox with a serial connection, you can follow the challenge/response as the system tries to connect to your ISP. It's then that you notice that it checks that your login is either xxx@fs or xxx@bbx.freeserve.co.uk for all (that I know of) UK firmware versions of the Inventel manufactured Livebox. This information is stored in one of the files (/sbin/adlsd) in the CRAMFS image within the flash of the Livebox which is running under GNU/Linux kernel 2.4.17. I did manage to successfully get my box to use Pipex (downloaded 80+MB of data with it) until I reflashed the Livebox and now cannot get back to a command prompt to do it again. If anyone has a Recovery/Rescue CD from Wanadoo ( not the one that comes with the box, but one that Wanadoo Tech Support send out) I would appreciate an image of it, then I can log and post what I needed to do. I have seen posts stating there is supposed to be a code you can get from Wanadoo to release the Livebox to use any ISP but no-one has managed to get the code from Wanadoo, so I am not sure if it does exist.

I would suggest a properly configurable wireless router, at 2/3rd of the price

I have a Belkin F5D7633 as my main router, which works OK, my Livebox is for playing with. I want the Livebox to work as its got a USB master port, Bluetooth and a PCCard slot for messing with. Plus as its runs Linux, you really can mess around with it.

HI Andy---I am in a similar situation---got a Livebox second hand ---have a karoo connection (need to chnage VPI, VCI), also to use it on this ISP.
I have a small knowledge of linux, can follow instructions (running a Suse 9.3 box).
Can u give me the instruction to do this?
Thanks
