Over the past few days, everytime i log off AOL I'm getting a message telling me there are updates to be installed. i click on the install now link but all that happens is the update downloads and then i get a message telling me that AOLphx has stopped working and needs to close.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. if it helps at all my OS is Vista
I was having the same problem/message after updating to Vista. I downloaded the latest aol 9.1 and since then I have not had this message. Just google aol 9.1 and download.

Try an update to AOL9.0 VR ? This is optimised for Vista. I'm running it on XP Pro with No probs. AOL Customer services will send you a copy free. Remember the Name
Hi Dirty Dave. My guess is that reinstalling AOL hasn't fixed your problem. If it has - GREAT! If not, read on: I assume you are running Vista with AOL 9.0 VR. If you are please make sure that you have User Account Control enabled. If you have Vista and AOL 9.0 VR this may be the solution for you: The AolPhx file (version 10.0) that comes with AOL 9.0 VR is not compatible with Vista (believe me). You need to get hold of a copy of AOL 9.0 (non-VR), or download it from AOL ,and copy the AolPhx file (version. 9.0) from that into your copy of VR. It should fix the problem immediately. Once you have access to AOL 9.0 go into your C:/Program Files/AOL 9.0VR folder and find the AolPhx file. Rename it AolPhx.old. In AOL.9.0 similarly find the AolPhx version 9.0 file then right click on it it and copy it. Paste this into a blank space in the open pane of your AOL.9.0 VR folder. As AOL often leaves copies of itself from older versions or updates/reinstalls make sure you do the above in every copy of AOL VR on your machine. Close down AOL and all open panes and reboot. When Vista is fully launched, launch AOL and close it down again. When the update file asks to install itself invite it in. This time it should do the job properly.
This file is causing me a lot of heartache, and finding it or downloading it is not as easy as it sounds. Maybe some good-hearted soul could post it or a link to it.

Downloading The Program is Not really advisable unless you have nothing to save like (address book also Favourites)
Ring AOL Member Services (Technical support) on (0844) 4995555 and they will send you a Disk out (get it in a few days) and when you Install It Do Not delete the current Version B) Sign in as a "Current Member" and C) select Upgrading to a New version of AOL on this computer
And Touch Wood All the settings will be retained And AOL "save" files copied
PS Most branches of the Carphone Warehouse will have some (They Own the AOL UK Franchise)
