I am reaching desperation. Have been with Waitrose broadband for six months but for 95% of this speeds have only been 128kbps. Spent about 10 days at 2200kbps, but not recently. Waitrose tell me this is due to frequent disconnections. I have one BT point only. This has a microfilter in it (at the moment I am connected to the test socket at Waitrose's instruction). I have tried three different microfilters but it makes no difference. From the microfilter the wired router is connected with a short cable from one socket, and a splitter connects a corded and a cordless phone from the other. The computer is connected to the router via a Cat 5 ethernet cable. Sometimes when the ADSL light on the router is flashing, picking up a phone seems to make the broadband reconnect after some crackling on the line and the warbling of the router resynching. I am told that this sounds like a microfilter problem but have tried three different ones and it makes no difference. Can anyone help please?

First thing is bin the splitter. These are a pain and prone to poor connection problems, causing noise. My advice is stay connected at the master test socket (front plate removed?) Connect only one telephone (not the cordless). Then if you require further assistance. Do you know how to get your router stats? You will need your :- 1 Data rate -upstream and downstream 2 Noise margin -upstream and downstream 3 Attenuation -upstream and downstream Also try connecting to this http://217.35.209.142/ You will need you telephone number, and your username from your Isp. It may take some time especially as you seem to have a very slow throughput.

Thanks for your comments. Things seem to be improving after BT checked the line. SNR margin is 15 down and 23 up. Line attenuation is 51 down and 28 up. Data rate is 3712 down and 448 up. Maybe my problems are finally over. Appreciate your help.
