Last night my computer stopped being able to connect to Orange Broadband.
I called the technical support and they said they were unable to help me as I was using a 3rd Party router and to call Netgear instead. I did this, but was told my Netgear router was working fine.
Then I tried changing my DNS Server settings to OPEN DNS, namely
Primary 208.67.222.222 Secondary 208.67.220.220
This instantly worked and I got my Internet back.
I rang Orange back and after some arguing with them got them to agree to test my line and to call back in 7 or 8 hours time.
Can someone tell me a little more about OPEN DNS. How secure is it to access the Internet with OPEN DNS?
Does this mean that Orange have a problem their end or could the problem still be my end?
