As a 68-year-old novice (I have only been using the internet for a year or two on dial-up, but want to upgrade to broadband), it would be useful if someone could provide some advice on comparing broadband deals. I have been using http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk to look at offers - which is very good, but what should I actually be looking for? Who is reliable? How much should I pay each month? My brother suggested AOL.

I used this site a while ago - http://www.broadband-guide.org.uk/ and it seemed pretty good to me. I'm with Virgin Media and can't complain but some of my friends do. Hope this helps. Rob

Hi, Have you tried moneysupermarket.com. They compare all sorts of things, including broadband, and they have a broadband forum. Not a great deal in the forum as yet, but useful. I am with directsave.net. Their package includes broadband up to 8 Mbps, I get about 2-4 Mbps depending on time of day and location of site, plus phone calls and line rental. It comes to about £30/month (there is also VAT, which they never include in their costs). The service has been okay, customer service has been good, the few times that I have needed it.
