Hi This is my pc:- Clickable link
I am not sure how old it is, but i bought it from a retailer about 5 months ago! From the time i bought it, when running Spybot S&D, i could hear the fan accelerating & slowing constantly through the running of the programme.
Now, i notice that the fan noise happens when i'm watching streamng film, youtube for example & some clips i see are jumpy & staggered!
I have had the top off & brushed any visible dust off the metal grid that i can see on the front of the fan & off the black fins of the fan, behind the metal grid! Is there anything else i can do? I am an amateur & was told to look for dust, but i don't realy want to be messing with things i know nothing about!
Many thanks
Gaz

It's an old machine, maybe 2002.
Spybot is an intense program which digs deep to root out the nasties it's supposed to. It is to be expected that the fan will kick in as the processor of this low spec machine works faster.
Similarly with streaming film, the processor is working overtime so the fan comes to life to cool it.

Well i hope i get a fiew years out of it yet! There's no signs of it that are obviously out of order! Is there any way of telling if it's vital organs are in descent condition?
Is the fan noise increasing causing any damage? & anthing i can do to minimalise this?
Thanks

If your machine is getting clogged with dust you will know about it. My mate's ageing laptop suddenly stopped working because of the dust build-up inside. All it need was the dust blasting away with one of those compressed air things. My machine's older than his as well and I've noticed the fan seems to be on pretty much all the time. Maybe I should get it cleaned also.

My machine is a small form factor & everything with is compacted! This is the power supply fan:-

I vacuumed the entrance! What else can i do about the dust!!, i can't see no more!
As it's all compacted inside, i can't get to anything else & my friend said that as it's all smaller, fan etc!, it will work faster!
I'm just wondering why when i watch streaming video, the fan starts & some of the streaming seems staggered & jittery, as if the pc can't handle the speed! This has just started!

Hi Get your self a can of air you can get theses from most good PC shops, open the casing of your PC and with the help of you Hoover give it a good clean out (tip try and blow from the inside out)give the inside a good going over(tip if you have fluid coming out of the can don't let it get on the boards / memory chips) And see if that helps(Tip unplug the pc first)

yeh, i done that, my pc still has an accelerating fan noise when streaming video or running spybot! I guess it's just the norm, although the sudenness of it starting out of the blue is what i was bothered about!
