new hardrive now i have no sound
      #377704 - Sat Dec 29 2007 10:20 PM

Hello

I inserted a new hard drive into my sons computer, after reinstalling xp there is no longer any sound. He has a soundblaster 24 bit soundcard besides the built in one. Hope I am posting this in the right place. There was an explanation mark next to the sound, video, game controllers and something about controller devices. Not sure because after attempting to download new drivers it disappeared. I cannot find my motherboard cd. Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

An exclamation mark?

It's telling you that the drivers are missing for the sound card.

Is the card Audigy or X-Fi?

The soundblaster card inserted has creative SBAudigy.pid

The built in one says foxconn but not sure that is the name. Is there another way to tell for sure? How can I find if it is Audigy or X-Fi? The computer says it is touchsystems. On the motherboard it says A7VBX.X. that b could be an 8.

In system info it says

AMD Athlon XP 2800+

In system devices

there are 2 legacy audio drivers

If you log on here to the Soundblaster site, it will scan your PC and help you locate the correct drivers for your sound card.
