I have just bought a new HP laptop running windows vista. My old e-machine pc is going to be donated to my mother in law, but before i hand it over i am desperate to move my itunes library (over 3000 songs) from my e-machines pc (running windows xp)onto my HP laptop. I have tried to plug my 3rd generation (old style) ipod into the new laptop to see if it will recognise it and simply port the songs across but no joy. I get the error message " The ipod is synced with another itunes library> An ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. What would you like to do? Erase and sync replaces the contents of this ipod with the contents of the itunes library. Transfer purchases copies itunes store purchases this computer is authorised to play from the ipod to this itunes library". So basically i do the second option which simply transfers the 50 or so songs i have bought and not the rest. Help!!! i should have handed the pc over at xmas but have been trying to fix this since then. I do not have an external hard drive. Please, help!

So you paid for 50 - how did you get the other 2950?

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

I have paid for (via itunes) about 300 songs in total (paid for 50 after i had bought my laptop - but due to having my pc rebuilt, it only recognises these 50 songs as bought and the rest it counts as my existing library). Having bought a cd nearly every week for the last 15 years...and received them as gifts from friends and family (as they know how much i like music) that will hopefully answer your question. I meant paid for via itunes - i hope the question was posted in good faith that you may be able to help rather than just (and i am hoping this isnt the case) you simply wishing to waste my time. So hope you can help, i suppose no reply will answer my question - but i hope i am wrong.

Was your post supposed to help in some way? if so i am struggling to understand the advice you have offered. I thought this forum was for people to actually help each other and not pick up what actions people have taken. If i am totally missing the point, then please accept my sincerest apologies. If i am not missing the point and you simply spent time replying pointing out copywright then you seriously need to think about spending your time more productively other than trawling postings and replying unnecessarily to postings and being more a hindrance than a help.
I will try to sort the problem myself as so far the only people to reply to my request for help seem to be pure timewasters. Its all a bit sad really..

Seems to me that you posted two conflicting statements and if you don't get the point then study both your posts.
