Hi,
i have just bought a brand new computer and somehow downloaded a virus onto it which i tried for months but i couldn't get rid of it, so i wiped the computer with Windows Xp on. Now that i have wiped it i can't install SoundMax. It says driver not found, rebbot and try again later. I need some help!

Can you explain the apparent difference between these two statements - Quote:

If the first is right, why don't you take it back to the shop? If it's the second then you should have got with your computer a CD with drivers on it. If you didn't get one we need to know the details of your sound card.

i were exagarating wen i said for months, i mean something like a couple of weeks. When i took it back to the shop they said they could only refund me some % of what i paid. So i kept it and, no i did not get a CD.

Download SIW from here and then use it to find the make and model of your sound card. Give us that information and we'll try and find the correct driver.

i downloaded the software and it is up and running, what information do you want and where will i find it. (can you tell i have never used the software b4?)

On the left hand side click on PCI and on the right hand side look for Audio Device. Tell us what it says about that entry.

it says:

i downloaded it and tried to install it and it said:

is it the right driver? or any other ideas?

Did you unzip the file to a separate directory and then double click Setup.exe?

i unzipped it to my desktop and tried to install it. No hope there.
I then used WinRar to open it and tried running setup from there. Once again, no hope.
This is draggigng on and i hope i can use the pc properly soon.

I found the driver, it was a realtek one. Thanks for your help.
