Hi, I hope someone can help. I have recently purchased a Sony Hi-md Minidisc player, Model MZ-NH700. I had an earlier version of sonicstage, but the hi-md needs version 2.1 or later, so I downloaded 2.1 from the Sony website. The first time I tried to record anything to the hi-md (the 1gb disc), it wouldn't even recognise that the disc was in the player. It just said that the media had been initialised by something other than sonicstage, and I had to re-initialise it in sonicstage to make it work. I did this, and still the same message. So i thought maybe the 1gb disc was faulty, and brought a brand new one, which arrived this morning. Much to my dismay, the same thing is happening. Sonicstage is just not recognising that there is a Hi-MD disc in the player, and it's not possible to transfer anything to it. I just don't understand this problem, surely sonicstage is designed (esp the later versions) to recognise a himd disc when it's in the player. Am I doing something totally wrong??
Also, when I insert a normal minidisc, it recognises this fine, shows what tracks are on it etc, but if I try to transfer anything at all to any disc, it says that the music formats are not supported. This i really don't understand!! All my music is in mp3 format, and the earlier version of sonicstage had no problems transferring it over. I have contacted sony to ask their advice, but I'm not holding my breath for an email back, as it was a week ago when i sent it.
Sorry for the long post. I'm just really frustrated at having spent £150 on a piece of technology that is no better than a normal ninidisc player, and a complete waste of money if I can't even use the 1gb disc option.
Please help!!
Any advice would be great, even if it's just other people saying they've had similar problems, so I know I'm not alone!!!
