Advanced Sound Recorder
      #2588 - Thu Jul 10 2003 03:38 PM

Can anyone tell me where I can go to download Advanced Sound Recorder build 1.0.2 or 1.0.3? It's a 35KB file, and I believe the filename is SndRec64.zip.

I've been using version 1.0.3 for some time, but the installation .zip file has suddenly become "empty". I didn't know such a thing was possible.

As it's freeware, I wanted to give a copy to a friend, and I'll need it myself when I reinstall everything anyway.

I've tried CNET, but all (both) their links to it appear to be broken (which in itself suggests there could be something wrong at my end). They've checked it and say it's ok, but it still won't work. I've even tried disabling Zone Alarm (not recommended, I know), but still no luck.

I've also tried a couple of Russian sites (I believe it comes from Russia), but still the same page cannot be displayed message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, whether it's alternative sites or suggestions regarding things that could be wrong at my end.

You say the zip is empty, but is it still installed on your machine?
If so click Help | About

Yes. It is still installed, but there's no help file or documentation of any sort. There's just the programme itself. I'm wondering whether it might be enough to just copy the file from one machine to another, and I'll be trying this as soon as I can get access to the other computer, but it's owner's not very well at present (long term - you really don't want to know).

Perhaps it will work. Perhaps it won't. Thanks for trying anyway, and I haven't completely given up on CNET yet. They could well get back to me again, and there's always the possibility that the problem will just "resolve itself" in some way.

Thanks again though. I don't know how we'd manage with you.

Just got an e-mail from CNET confirming that there is a fault, so presumably it will be sorted out sooner or later, but I'd still like to know of any alternative sites, just in case.
