I Have broad band supplied via cable with NTL. Iam looking a setting up a phone line pay as u use from www.4thenet.com For use when NTL goes down
which is quite often . Can I do this and how do I switch from one to the other?
At the moment I do not have a telephone cable connected but can soon plug one in.

Running Win. XP. Anything to be careful of? Last thing I need is to cock the lot up.

I think you could do this as it's possible to have more than one ISP. You'd probably have an icon on your Desktop to click on when you want to use the pay as you go service. I'm not 100% sure about this, so I'd wait to see what other people say about it.

Yes you can have an NTL connection as well as a dial up, I have it setup like that on my PC. NTL uses a LAN connection which will be the default. I would try and avoid using the setup CD you get with your dialup supplier. Log on to their web site and get the information you need to create a new dialup connection and then go into Control Panel, Network and do it yourself. Connect a phone line to your dialup modem and when you need the connection double click on it's icon.

Have you requested an NTL engineer to come round to check the outside cables? Or for NTL to do a test on your modem at their end? Seems strange that your NTL BB goes down often.

I was more or less right then, but I wouldn't have known how to set it up properly.
