What we liked: If you don’t mind paying a tiny bit more – and we’re talking pennies per month – Daily.co.uk will get you your ideal domain name quickly and easily, while offering a range of useful extra services. Daily’s prices are undercut by 1&1 for ‘.co.uk’ addresses, but only by 50p over two years, and £7.08 (inc VAT) for 24 months is still a real bargain. You can also choose a ‘.com’ domain for a reasonable £10.67. We liked the flexibility of registering your address for between one and 10 years (priced from £5.34 to £35.40). Daily suggests some useful variations on your search query in case your first choice isn’t available and is currently offering a 40 per cent discount on ‘.tv’ domains, which are ideal for video sites.
But it’s the free extra features that really earned Daily our Gold Award. Every registered or transferred domain name comes with a mailbox for sending and receiving email, a simple site-building tool and an option for forwarding visitors to a different address. The Control Panel makes managing multiple domains a doddle, and you get £75-worth of Google AdWords credit when you spend your first £25 on advertising.
We also liked the options to pre-order existing names that are set to expire soon, and to buy credits that save you money when you buy addresses in bulk. Neither 123-reg nor 1&1 offer these useful services, which Daily explains clearly and concisely. Equally, its registration process only takes a couple of minutes and you can quickly skip any extras you don’t want.
How can it be improved? We’d like to see Daily follow our other award winners in offering mobile apps that let you register domains on the move.
Our verdict: Daily.co.uk is easy to use, offers brilliant free extras and provides great value. There’s also plenty of choice about the domain name you register and how long you own it for.
